so. after altering, considering keeping because i loved them so much, and ultimately selling two great vintage dresses with peter pan collars i thought to myself, "wouldn't it be awesome if i could just put a peter pan collar on everything?" hmm.
a commenter on my last post had it exactly right - i've been putting these collars on drawings and dolls for years, i stop in my tracks whenever i see one on a shirt in a store, etc. i may be mildly obsessed with the things. so i did the only logical thing: drafted a detachable version of my own and spent the last two days incessantly sewing the first few. success! the ones i've been making are a little thinner and sit a bit lower than the traditional collar so that they fit better with modern t-shirts, though i might start making some that are nice and full and hug the neck as well. i've experimented with a few colours and 3 have made it to the shop thus far! here's a sampling:

(this is the picture nick said "lame, you're making a stupid face" about but hey, it shows the texture of that lovely swiss dot fabric and i am currently too lazy to re-take it so he can eat my shorts).

the snaps!
anyway, they're all available at young captive vintage now and i'll be adding more and more over the next little while! keep your eyes peeled for some other types of collars too (sailor, anyone?) and some new altered vintage dresses this week as well!
p.s. i'm still very slowly but surely accumulating followers and anxious to have new blogs to read, so please if you're around do leave a comment so we can be pals :)
